Aloha!

Please note, if you plan to come to Hawaii, it is imperative to know Gov. David Ige signed a 14th supplementary emergency proclamation that extends the COVID-19 emergency period through Nov. 30. The emergency proclamation leaves in place the 14-day mandatory quarantine requirement for out-of-state travelers. However, beginning Oct. 15, a pre-travel testing option will allow travelers an alternative to the mandatory 14-day quarantine. Also, the new online Safe Travels program is mandatory for all travelers entering Hawaii, effective Sept. 1, 2020.

This new digital program, which collects the required health and travel information, is critical to protecting the health of our residents and visitors alike. Safe Travels is one part
of a multi-layered screening process which includes arrival temperature checks, and secondary screening for those with symptoms or temperatures of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit
or higher. Travelers are encouraged to enter their information and trip details well in advance of their flight. Once their health information is entered within 24 hours of departure,
travelers will receive a QR code via email. The QR code on their mobile device or printed on paper gets scanned by the airport screener upon arrival. All passengers will be
required to have a valid email address to receive the QR code. More information on the process can be found by clicking here. A direct link to the program form can be found
by visiting https://travel.hawaii.gov

The pre-travel testing program for COVID-19 will start Oct. 15, 2020. Pre-travel testing enables travelers to avoid a mandatory 14-day quarantine if they are tested within 72 hours
before their flight to Hawaii departs with an FDA-approved nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) and can show proof of a negative test result. Travelers also will have their
temperatures checked upon arrival and must fill out the Safe Travels travel and health form. Upon arrival in Hawaii, passengers unable to provide proof of an approved negative
test will be required to go into quarantine for 14 days or until they can provide proof of negative test results. For more information and an FAQ please visit https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel/

    • The State's COVID Exemption Task Force also issue a variety of other exemptions via email, and any travelers with an exemption issued from this account should have an email.

In order to be exempt from quarantine via the SAFE TRAVELS APP, the traveler would require all FOUR of the following:
  1. Test administered within 72 hours of arrival date.
  2. Test result NEGATIVE
  3. State accepted test type: Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT)
